I’ve been using Kendal Library for over thirty years, but today was the first time I was consciously aware of the words just above the main entrance doors!
It’s a great library, which has recently undergone a thorough refurbishment. It’s taken me a while to get used to the new layout, but I can generally find the books I want. The best thing is that if Kendal don’t have the book I want, it can be sourced from any of the other libraries in Cumbria and delivered to Kendal free of charge. In this digital age, I still prefer to read a physical book and I guess the Council are happy to keep providing this service as long as there is a demand for it.
Mr Carnegie would no doubt be pleased to know that the library he endowed in 1909 is still a thriving community resource 115 years later.
Long may it continue.
