Let There Be Drums
Went through to Barrow this morning to do some more work on our blues number. I’ve pretty much sussed the bass line, and Stu has worked out how many verses and solos there will be and how it will end. It’s going to be four verses but, as he’s only written two and a half verses so far, he’s handed it over to me to see if I can come up with anything!
The other thing we did was lay down the drum track using some very clever software. I don’t pretend to understand it but, basically, an AI programme will create the track by following what chords/rhythm the guitar is playing. Then it can be tweaked to suit - a different ending maybe, or change some of the fills the AI has created, etc.
It sounded pretty good to my ears and felt quite natural to play along to. I was also told there is an AI bass as well. I think I need to get practicing lest I be replaced with a robot!
Did my good deed for the day in the afternoon. Stu was going to fit a key box (so carers can let themselves in) outside his dad’s house yesterday, but hadn’t got the right tools. He was at work this afternoon, and his dad doesn’t live far from me, so he asked if I could fit it. Not a problem and it only took half an hour from start to finish.
Another quality job from Bodgit & Scarper, builders to the stars…
