Stephens Passage / Tracy Arm Inlet / Juneau;Alaska
Into Alaska; now 9 hours behind UK-time. Heading towards Tracy Arm Inlet this morning we were whale-spotting from the deck, with icebergs floating past. We could see the whale spout plumes, but they were a bit distant for close or clear photos.
We docked in Juneau this afternoon. We had a walk around the town, and then went on the cable-car [the Goldbelt Tram] up to Mount Roberts, where there were great views. We saw some more wildlife, including a ground squirrel and an American Robin (considerable bigger than the UK variety). Best of all - a couple of Bald Eagles. We had been told that there are apparently 30000 bald eagles in Juneau (not a typo - that IS thirty thousand), but we only saw two!
