Twineworks

Open day at the Twineworks, quite a few local people there when we arrived in the afternoon.  And of course a cup of tea and homemade cakes!  A couple of decades ago this was a ruin but with the help of grants and fundraising it is now a museum piece.  This area grew a lot of hemp for sailmaking in the Victorian times and so twine was needed for the sails on the ships.

Just hoping T finishes picking up the grass for the silage before the rain sets in this evening.  The team started at 5.30 this morning and will work into the night as they have to cover the clamp after they have finished.  He said the grass, and there was lots of it - was still sticky and the sugar content was ok but ideally had the weather been drier he would have liked to have made silage a couple of weeks earlier.
