Sunflower Island

Euan's first batch of sunflowers was eaten by the slugs so today Grandad executed his cunning plan, helped of course by Euan.  Once they had planted up some new pots, Euan filled the tray with water and Grandad created an island in the centre of the tray so that the slugs would have to swim to reach Euan's sunflowers!  Watch this space for an update on its efficiency.  It was a lovely day and a quiet one for us all which is good to have some days.  In the morning Tony and I walked down to University Parks for parkrun, had second breakfast at Gail's Bakery, along with lots of other parkrunners, then walked back home through the water meadows and South Park.

Tony has continued to clear out the corner border and plant the remaining plants which the slugs have left untouched.  John and Cathy came round with the children to borrow a cycle seat for a family outing and the garden was full of activity for a couple of hours.
