Above the clouds
and across the water.
Mr H and Young L spent the night with us at the beach house, so no one needed a wake up call this morning. They were ready to go by 0630. It didn't take long to recognise that they were not going to return to sleep. They were persuaded into a quiet activity, and I went out for a run.
It was an unusual morning, in that the sky seemed hazy, and the colours of the sky and the water were very muted. High tide meant that there were no patterns in the mudflats to catch what light there was.
On the way back I noticed that the clouds which were hovering over the horizon had begun to have a golden edge. I paused and waited and caught the instant that the edge of the sun became visible above the clouds, and simultaneously sent a beam of golden light across the water of the bay.
After breakfast and the Sunday newspaper I retired to the study/library/storeroom downstairs to read the agenda papers for Tuesday and Wednesday. A more manageable amount of reading this month. Back to Auckland, and delivered the boys to their mother, while we ready ourselves for a quiet evening.
