Slow Progress

Continuing to organise both the refurbishment of the bungalow and the sale of the flat, I popped into the local interiors shop on my way home from church this morning. Now that the new windows have been installed, I need some venetian blinds for the two bedrooms at the front of the house. The lady who organises this work is away today, but I’ve left my details and she should be contacting me tomorrow to book an appointment to measure up. I’ve also drawn up my ideal timetable for completion and removal of my furniture and possessions from the flat. The surveyor from my preferred company is coming on Friday morning to look at the volume and type of stuff to be moved and give me a quote, then we can get a provisional date pencilled in. I’ve also spoken to my nephew about doing the decorating, and hopefully this will be mid to late June when there will be the least amount of furniture in the bungalow to be shifted around as he works through the rooms. I’m hoping to move during the week after the General Election on 4th July, so please keep your fingers crossed that this can happen for me!

I’ve just printed off the reams of documents that need to be carefully read and signed ready for exchange of contracts, and there’s a problem with one of them. Some of the text is missing down the right-hand side of each page, so I’ve had to email my conveyancing solicitor asking her to look into it. I’m not prepared to sign a legal document which has bits missing off it! So progress is a little slow, but that’s fine with me because I’ve still got a huge amount left to do.

The garden at the bungalow is getting rather overgrown, but there are still lovely things when I look around it - today’s gift of nature is a miniature rose bud which is just starting to unfurl.

In spite of all the ongoing pressure, I’m managing to remain calm because there’s simply no point in getting anxious -

“Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?” Luke 12:25
