Melodrama on the bus
HB and I went to see the Powell & Pressburger documentary that is briefly running in cinemas. It is directed by an old friend, features Martin Scorsese and is part produced by my friend and first husband Jamie. It was an epic deep dive into their work and yet a personal response from Scorsese. We have a family connection because one of their biggest hits (didn’t know that) was Battle of the River Plate which features my grandfather, played by Anthony Quayle. Jamie told me he managed to sneak a picture of my grandmother at the premiere into the film. And there she was, wearing a Norman Hartnell dress I remembered dressing up in and wearing to several parties in my 20s. Not sure what became of it… H and I gave a muted cheer at the sight of her.
This is us heading for Waterloo afterwards on the bus with H giving a bit of a 30s attitude.
Then the fun stopped. No trains running out of Waterloo so I cut my losses and went and stayed with B & C. Looking forward to surprising the babies in the morning.
For the rest of the day I was in a Grade review of episode 2 (picture) and then VFX review (made up picture). A couple of hours in the actual office before going off to the Garden Cinema in Covent Garden.
