Day 21 Camino Ledigos to Bercianos del Camino
Today was a longer walk than normal, about 26.6km in total of walking in 23 degrees heat. We are not complaining as it is nice to sit out and have time off sitting in the sunshine. We are staying in a small town which is pretty quiet but it has 6 hostels. If it wasn’t for the Camino industry, these towns would die.
We hit a bit of a snag when we arrived at our pee-booked hostel. It transpired that the hostel did not have beds for us as they had let out beds to a pilgrim who was ill and was unable to move. The hospitalera (the hostel manager) made a few phone calls and fortunately managed to relocate us to another hostel (voluntary church hostel). The Camino provides as the saying goes! This hostel is run by the church and is ostensibly free though they ask you to make a donation for bed and board. At least we have somewhere to stay tonight!!
Todays blip shows a fellow pilgrim catching some much needed rest in the cool shade.
