cycling mount batur

here's quite a nice view from mount batur down to the lake. went downhill cycling on this volcanic mountain today, winding through all sorts of narrow paths and little villages. the ride was not very strenuous, being mostly downhill and all, but it definitely was a lot of fun.

first encounter with kopi luwak today, otherwise known as civet coffee. turns out these civets eat the coffee berries, and through some enzymatic process, the bitterness of the bean is broken down, but the bean is not digested. instead, the civet excrement is collected and the beans are cleaned and lightly roasted to make this stuff. turns out it's the most expensive coffee in the world as well, due to limited production. i had a taste of it, really good stuff. however, at 600,000 rupiah (about us$60) for 100 grams, none was coming home with me.
