Alice in Jazzland

Our first visit to the Cheltenham Jazz Festival and our first gig this evening was a longstanding favourite, Alice Russell, who was performing with her excellent group and backing singers in the Jazz Arena. I'm here with my middle daughter, Jen. Her older sister, Paula, took the cover photo for Alice's first album. Oddly there were no posters or signage for the Festival on the way into Cheltenham. The venues are all grouped together in Montpellier Gardens in the centre of town and, whilst they are temporary marquee-type structures, they are all seated. As we weren't able to get tickets for Glasto this year, it is good to sample another Festival. The festival site is minute compared to Worthy Farm but the surface water and mud in the Festival Gardens certainly have a Glasto feel about them. Looking forward to seeing Gregory Porter and Robert Plant tomorrow
