Bristol Day 2: Long Ashton

Will was working today so I had an explore - a mooch around Easton, a wander around the massive and extraordinary cemetery, a croissant in Este and then I negotiated the train into Temple Meads (no ticket places - apps/online booking required). First stop St Mary’s Redcliffe an imposing and beautiful church where the Pipe Walk ended - now signified by a defunct fountain head. I was thrilled to find that there was an exhibition about it though - you shall have to wait for a blog for more information.
Lunch in the Watershed where I was very impressed with their funky gender neutral loos and then on to Castle Park in search of another well - I passed it several times before I realised it has been completely covered over - but note the flowers! Wrecked I got a taxi out to Redpoint where Will works - a climbing centre created from an old cinema. I was gobsmacked by the size of it all and wondered at the strength of climbers’ fingers - no way could I hang on.
We then headed out to Long Ashton and had a wander around here - gasping at the incredible spread of bluebells and wild garlic. .
Home at a reasonable time we treat ourselves to supper in the Garden of Easton - a wonderful sort of tapas place, every single inch of the walls and ceilings filled with plants. The food was amazing too - grilled artichokes with capers being my favourite dish. The patatas were pretty good too.
We collapsed in front of Donnie Darko - still mystifying.
