Carol's ramblings

Osborne House

One of the main reasons (well the main reason actually) for holidaying in the Isle of Wight was to visit Osborne House, the favoured home of Queen Victoria.

It did not disappoint, even though the weather was a little overcast.  Decided to do the outside parts first and the. When the weather was becoming more overcast to tour the house.  It worked perfectly.

Unfortunately I have developed a dicky knee, not sure what is wrong with it apart from hurting when I walk on it (the pain is on the inner part of my knee).  Managed to do a fair amount of walking today, and had assistance once from a courtesy bus.

Such a lovely home (now managed by English Heritage) still being renovated to times when the Queen lived in it for long periods of time (particularly after Prince Albert passed away).  The delightful Seuss Cottage, used by the children to grow their fruit/veg/flowers  is fascinating and the little house where they would play and bake with nanny or the Queen (recipe as extra).  A small museum of items collected, curiosities and delicate items (a number of taxidermy animals).

A Turing but very enjoyable day,

X
