Colours of Columbine

Every Spring, I blip some of the aquilegias or columbines in our garden. I like these flowers very much, and it’s always a surprise when the buds open, because you don’t know which colour they will be. These three plants are growing very close together, probably grown from seeds of a single plant from last year, and they represent the spectrum very nicely.

May 1st is a public holiday here, and it was incredibly warm - with up to 29°C in the shade. I postponed my planned gym visit, and spent all morning in the garden, weeding and potting plants, until the neighbours smoked me out with a mixture of cigarette and barbecue smells.
