Munni

Red Maple

When my parents built their house on a bare field, over 50 years ago, they planted a mini forest next to the main road, so the house wouldn’t be so overlooked anymore. One of my father’s colleagues gave them a young red maple tree then.
Now it is a big tree, and one of the last ones still standing from the original planting. I like its unusual colour, especially in Spring and Autumn.

I went shopping for my mother and J, and visited for lunch and coffee. It was a lovely warm day, and we all had our coffee outside on the terrace.
When I talked with my mother about the things that need to be done in the garden this year, she suggested “Perhaps we could ask G to help with that”.

For those of you who only know me as Munni: in real life, I am G, and her only child.

Ever since she started developing dementia, I knew that one day she wouldn’t recognize me anymore. Today was the first time (that I know of) when that really happened.
