Still Rockin'

Lavender en Provence

Today we looked out of the window and could see Mont Ventoux for the first time with its cloud gradually clearing away. We realised straight away that this would be a good day for cycling up it ahead of the Tour de France, so we got ourselves organised and drove there (well, what did you think I was going to say?). Hundreds of cyclists seemed to be heading up there or zooming down from it and we admired their determination, especially the young woman in a boob tube without a bead of perspiration on her. We stopped for lunch at the Chalet Liotard and got talking to a couple of Geordies who were set to do the three different ascents within 24 hours and in order to join the Club des Cinglés du Mont-Ventoux. Respect is due.

We stopped at the top and saw tremendous views. I've taken some panoramic shots but my laptop doesn't seem keen to stitch them but i did do one on the iPhone which I'll put in my Blipfolio.

On our way home we found a lavender field by the side of the road with a convenient verge to stop on, so that's today's blip as it lovely and colourful and much nicer than the post at the top of Mont Ventoux that says its altitude is 1911 metres.

Hope you didn't got as high as you like to be today!
