Isle of Wight magic

When we awoke the rain lashed and the wind blew so much so we were wondering if the hovercraft would be cancelled.  But despite a poor forecast for the Island itself when we got to Jonathan’s house, the producer I am working with on Nightsleeper the sun started to creep out and by lunch we were eating outside in his sheltered courtyard.  P & V, our other IoW friends, the latter back from his hospital stay brought a friend called Jo and there were three dogs scudding around.   Jonathan cooked a feast - dips, vichyssoise with wild garlic flowers, asparagus, chicken tagine with couscous and miso aubergines.  I brought an almond cake to eat alongside the rhubarb and stem ginger JC prepared.  It was all delicious and fresh.  We didn’t walk on the beach as the tide was so high but we lumbered over to the top to look at it.   They have had the house in the family for years but as children the lawn out front was all sea.  A mixture of the port closing, the sea migrating, some land reclamation has given them this garden but he’s aware climate change could take it all back.

Caught the 6.15 hover home and had a quiet already stuffed evening watching another Blue Lights.
