Spider Attacks Wasp
A lovely sunny day, much warmer too. Clouds passing over, rain tonight. A gentle breeze most of the day.
Up early, headed out walkies after breakfast. Most of the morning in the garden. Nipped down to mam's this afternoon, we popped along Laura too. Working in the shop this evening, busy as usual. I'll hold off walkies tonight, see if it drys, feet up in the meantime.
I made good progress in the garden clearing weeds and grasses from the flowerbeds, still plenty more to go. I planted a few bedding plants I got from the garden centre. I nipped into the greenhouse to water the young bedding plants, lovely and warm in there. Suddenly a loud buzzing started behind me, a massive wasp. As I looked for something to swat it with, it flew into a spiderweb in the window. Next I knew, a spider popped out and started chasing it further into the web, whilst on the attack too. A few smaller spiders watched and tried to help out. As the wasp started to be ripped apart by the spider, they dragged it away from my viewing, into the lair. That wasp will be a good feed for a while. I've not been aware of many wasps around my garden before, but this is the second one this year, last one was back on 10th January, inside my house! Hope there's not a nest near me, I'll let the spiders protect me. Taken in my greenhouse, Hawthorn Cottage, Houl Road, Scalloway.
