Sally Mair - Loving life

Sleeping Beauty

Another horrid day today, cold and wet, and just 30 mile's away in North Fife there was enough snow to make driving hazardous. Tomorrow's forecast is in the upper teens and sunny. It's hard to keep track at the moment.
Ali and the girls came over this afternoon, both were in good form. Once all were settled in here, Ali took the opportunity to head down to Craigleith leaving the girls with me. Josie was offered the opportunity to go with her mum but said no, she'd rather stay here with Grandma and Grandpa. That took us all aback and we were delighted that she was happy to let mum go away and leave her with us even when she had the choice.
I was very pleased when I settled Bonnie and managed to lay her in the moses basket to sleep. She was very peaceful.
It is interesting the way things go full circle. I would never put a baby to sleep on her back when my two were young because of the danger of choking. In fact I usually put them on their sides. Now though the phrase is "Back to sleep" as research has shown that on the back is the safest position. As a mother, you are constantly terrified of doing the wrong thing, with dreadful consequences.

I wasn't out much today, but during a dry five minutes, I walked across the lawn to top up the bird feeders. It was like walking on a soggy sponge, I've never known the grass so wet, and there is soooo much moss. Still, that's not my area of responsibility when it comes to the garden.
I'm thinking to get the potato bags started once the weather settles and I really should have the courgette seeds starting indoors soon too.
Thanks for all the compliments on my daffodils yesterday, I'm looking forward to seeing some of my new ones soon too. They look very strong.
