Sally Mair - Loving life

Gas holder 1

After a quiet morning around the house, this afternoon we had the older girls. They came with us to church for an hour where we helped put everything away in the Vestry. We'd had it painted over the last couple of days, it looks so much better. The girls occupied themselves very well while they waited for us.
I dropped Colin home then the girls and I headed for Edinburgh's latest public space, Gasholder1, in the ground of the former gas board premises at Granton. As a child, we used to drive past it every day on our way to school. We never imagined it would one day be preserved as an historical monument .
They have made a great park in the space with some interesting activities for children. There is also a beautiful sculpture of a humpback whale. Well worth a visit.

Our next stop was the Scoopz ice cream shop just along the road. The girls eyes were out on stalls. The price of the ice cream was less than I'd expected and the portion sizes were huge. I got 10 grandma points for today's outing. Apparently once I get to 15 I get breakfast in bed. Lol.
I'm back at their house tonight to provide cover in case Kathryn is needed. She's on call this weekend, and Jon is on a late shift. I may fall asleep.
