"Fermanagh"

OK so technically I didn't take this photo, but it was beamed around the world by press photographers as the leaders of the G8 gathered at the Lough Erne Golf Resort for their discussions, so I'm going to say it counts! The most powerful people in the world are in Fermanagh and my little local town of Enniskillen! To see Air Force One roll up on the Belfast runway was a sight to behold! After all of the years of violence at home, Northern Ireland is being trusted with this huge event and we have to step up to meet and exceed everyones expectations!

I wish I was at home to join in the hype and excitement of seeing the land-rover cavalcades steam roll through our streets, and the numerous helicopters taking all the leaders to the hotel, surrounded by a ring of steel security system. Yes it may not have been enjoyable for people living close to the hotel, disrupted by road blocks and diversions, etc for so many weeks, but what an amazing opportunity this is for my little town! :)

Of course Belfast had to show off at the beginning of the day with Obama making a speech to school kids in Belfast (I listened in at work - so inspiring!), but by noon the city had to step aside and let the beautiful scenery of Fermanagh do the talking!

Seeing my home on national television doesn't help the homesickness but I felt so proud to say I live there and see the beautiful waterways of Lough Erne everyday!

Tonight Cameron, Obama, Putin, Merkel (what heavy-weight names!), and all the others sleep under the skies of the Fermanagh countryside - wish I was doing the same!

Oh, and check out my lyric link for today! Midnight Graffiti are a band from home who have never taken themselves too seriously but produce the best sounding tunes! This new, original song has a country sounding spin, but hits the spot as always! Well done lads!
