Accellerated Decrepitude

When you apply the commercial principle of planned obsolescence to a sentient product, does that constitute murder? "I think, Sebastian, therefore I am." How could one disprove this claim? Are we the sum total of our memories? Without memories, who are we? Are we still the person we believe ourselves to be if our memories are ersatz?
