Windy and wet……
……two words to describe Bertie’s day. It was blowing a hoolie and we could see lots of white horses out at sea as we walked down to the deserted settlement of Kildavie this morning. Luckily, once we dropped down off the main track we were sheltered and also fortunate to complete our walk without being rained on.
In the afternoon I could tell that Bertie had the scent of deer again but I couldn’t see anything obvious on the hillside where he was looking. Then I spotted them beyond the trees at the same time as Bertie did. I tried to get a photo of them without much success, but meanwhile, Bertie decided to dash after them, until he ran out of extending lead. Unfortunately for him, he was brought up short just as he was jumping over a small but deep stream. Try as he might, he couldn’t drag himself out (extra) and the poor wee soul had to wait until I could grab his harness and lift him out. All thoughts of deer were forgotten for the moment.
