Sally Mair - Loving life

Fritillaries

The first of my fritillaries have flowered. I do love them, somehow they feel rather exotic. I bought a new variety at the end of last year of which at least 3 have grown so I'm looking forward to seeing if they are going to flower this year or not. Fingers crossed and watch this space.
I woke ridiculously early this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so I just gave up and did a selection of online puzzles and read my book.
We were up and out early to go to a Diocesan training day for vestry members. I enjoyed catching up with several friends from Cursillo. It makes me think of something the rector said at the funeral last week when I was chatting to him. He said that - he himself hasn't been to a Cursillo, but he had noticed how much those of his congregation who had, did things in the church. I said that was what it was all about.
The training itself was nothing new to me, but perhaps those who had been involved in different professions found it helpful. As a charity employee, a former charity trustee and one who has run my own charity, it was less so. It was also a very early start!
We came home on the bus and I went on to support a local lady who was running a sale in aid of Cancer Research in our church hall. She was very pleased as she had had a good turnout.
The rest of the day I've been inside in the warm, at least it didn't rain today, it would probably have come down as sleet if it had, brrrrr.
