The Source of Denial

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

Caro has merch! The funeral home gave her this bottle of water.

She has been proudly taking it with her wherever she goes. But not everyone responds well to things connected to The Great Beyond.

For example, Caro was telling me that the funeral home is a great venue! Apparently it has been trying to encourage local groups to use their space for meetings, quizzes, etc.

Some local groups have taken them up on it, but some others say that can't possibly use the space because DEATH. Even some of the groups who do use it, have members who avoid the place.

People want to deny that Death is a Thing.

Which I sort of understand.

But it's strange. I mean it's not like they have caskets just lying around or anything. Or a member of staff going around crying out, "WOE! FIE AND WOOOOEEEE!! ALL IS IMPERMANENCE!!!"

(Although FYI, I would love that job).

In Caro's case, she offered a drink of water to the thirsty daughter of her friend Macca. The teenage daughter looked at the bottle and said, "No, I don't want your DEATH WATER, thanks."

I quite like the idea of The Water of Death. It's almost poetic. As for Caro, it just keeps her hydrated in the gym.
