7 strong Peleton
After months of heading out every Saturday in all weather with just a few of us, we hit the highest number yet with 7 of us riding out together. Was a fantastic feeling all of us hitting the road in different wee groups at times then bunching up together and riding in a train. Was quite easy going most of the day so we hit a couple of Strava sections and we hit them hard. One was a full on sprint and the other was a climb with both coming at the end of a circa 40 mile ride. Lost my KOM but knocked 2 seconds off my previous time coming in at 44 seconds on the sprint with my two awesome riding buddies coming in at 42 seconds. On the climb, I knocked close to 30 seconds off my previous PB for that section. Best stat of the day for me was that my cadence hit 153 RPM on the sprint.
This is my bike on the right and the Bianchi on the left belongs to the man who took the KOM on the sprint. A very inspirational and interesting human being who lives and breathes bikes. Every conversation with him is informative especially when he is talking about life. A wee valuable lesson was learnt today, he pushed on the hills and when we stopped to re-group before the sprint he was telling me that he was goosed and in fairness he did look a bit tired. However it just goes to show you that it is when you think that you are at your weakest, it is then that you are the strongest. It is then that you have to not only battle the fatigue in your legs, you need to also ignore that wee voice in your head and just dig in for that last 10 seconds. Think that my bike buddy did this today and was a well desrerved KOM!
