Aonium

Although Jamie made a fast start to catch the train home, Ruth and I took a while to get going this morning after our long outing yesterday.  I was out before Midday picking up a wooden box that at friend wanted rid of that Ruth plans to use as a planter.   A big box!   It took two of us to carry it up the hill from the other side of Stirchley High Street.  It will need some work to give it a longer outdoor life but Ruth has plans so I fully expect to see it in use later in the year :-)

After a tasty cooked lunch we got ourselves out to Birmingham Botanic Gardens where Ruth became a seasonal member.  This means that she and up to two companions can have free entry for a year ... so we'll be back in due course and I am sure she will go with other people too.   Chilly today so we stayed mostly in the glasshouses, Tropical, Subtropical, Mediterranean (with Aoniums included) and Arid.   We did venture out to the rock garden and visited their little alpine house.   Fun!

Back to Ruth's then a quick visit to the very local builders merchants for a few garden related bits Ruth needs and then an uneventful drive home.  I couldn't resist the short detour to collect six pretty little vases that were in the weekend glaze firing and once the car was unloaded Meg and I walked down to the seafront and back via a different route.  And so to bed.
