Wells-Next-The-Sea
Last night I received an email to say that many of my images that I submitted to the Surrey Photographic Association for selection for their biennial exhibition have been selected - I was very chuffed about that, as I submitted 16 images and was hoping for a couple of selections, but 10 images were selected with a few being awarded highly commended.
This morning Gavin and I left early to drive to Norfolk. An easy journey with no traffic, and a stop along the way to get some flat whites to enjoy with the breakfast I had made (overnight oats with chia seeds and nuts). We were shocked to see the extent of the flooding in many villages in Norfolk, it is considered one of the driest counties in the UK but one village in particular, South Creake, was so flooded and we saw a couple of houses were pumping water out of them.
When we arrived we quickly unpacked and then headed off to Holkham beach for a walk. It was much colder than expected - sunny and bright with blue skies, but a biting cold wind. We walked all along the beach towards the hides, keeping a look out for birds as snow buntings and shore larks have been seen there recently - then we walked in the other direction to Wells-Next-The-Sea, so it was a long walk of almost 3 hours. We had lunch at Wells Deli before getting the bus back to where we had left out car parked at Holkham.
This is a view of Wells in the lovely light - and a posing seagull in the extras - think it's a yellow leg seagull (although they look a bit pink to me?). We saw many widgeons, greylag geese and shovelers at Holkham which was full of birds. Many birders were out and about today as the bird life here is incredible.
We got back in time for a meeting with the plumber about a leak from the shower tap and also to get a quote to add another shower to the family bathroom. We timed this to coincide with the Waitrose delivery so everything was happening at once!
Now a lazy evening in front of the fire watching TV....
