Nicky and her Nikon

Snettisham at sunset

I had a really awful night's sleep, the bar downstairs was very noisy and I was kept awake until way past midnight - and then could not fall asleep. I must have dozed off for a few hours as when my alarm went off at 5am I got a fright! We were off and out by 5.30am, to go to the coal barn at Thornham for sunrise and high tide. It was a very challenging morning, it was raining and the wind was very strong. Most of my long exposure images taken this morning have not worked and are blurry from movement caused by the strong wind against the tripod, despite my tripod being a very strong and stable one. It was really awful conditions and I could not wait to get back to the inn for breakfast.

After breakfast we went to Burnham Overy Staithe and photographed the boats. We had planned to cross the creek as there were some scenic boats on the other side but the tide was still far too high.By now it was sunny, but still extremely windy. We moved on to Brancaster Staithe and took more photos of boats and close up shots of harbour scenes - mussel pots, ropes etc. We did not have lunch but went to a cafe in Brancaster for tea and cake! Then on to Snettisham for the sunset. Thankfully the wind had finally dropped and it was sunny, but as the sun set it got very cold. I have been using my new thick Vallerret photography gloves with disposable hand warmers and it has worked well to prevent my hands from getting too cold. I still have a circulation problem with them but I coped okay today.

It has been a long day, we had a quick half an hour after getting back to the inn to get ready for supper so I am quickly uploading this now before supper. Apologies for the lack of comments but there is no time and the wifi and data coverage is very weak. I was thrilled to see that yesterday's image was liked and received so many hearts, thank you so much.

Tomorrow morning it is another 5am rise, and more rain forecast! Our workshop ends at lunch time when I go to our house at Brancaster Staithe. Gavin and Xena arrived there today for the weekend.
