A Mug's Game?
When my daughter was here yesterday we had discussions about our Operation Avoid Landfill. MrQ came with us to the potting shed, where a lot of the stuff is stored. We wanted to give her friend some wood to edge her allotment but he wouldn't let her have it. :( He said himself, "You can't take it with you." Maybe he'll eventually come round to the fact that it is better to try to place items with people who want them rather than hanging on to stuff that will probably end up in landfill.
This mug belonged to my mother-in-law, a staunch royalist. It dates from 1936 and is in good condition but they were mass produced and it's only worth a few quid. Better to go to a collector than to landfill. I've photographed it on a couple of my books showing Edward as Prince of Wales in army uniform and with Wallis Simpson in 1935 at Cochran's Cabaret. Nice to get my books out for a change. The subject is controversial because of the abdication crisis.
