Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 300

This hearse with its accompanying pair of beautiful white stallions had just arrived from Leeds, via Biggar, to be used for a funeral in Portobello today. The hearse is a modern one, despite its old style and even has disc breaks. I wondered if the funeral was for someone with equestrian connections but was told not. The men with the horses and hearse say that they are kept busy providing horse drawn hearses up and down the country. I extend my condolence to the family whose loved one's last journey will be made here today in such strikingly impressive style. RIP.

With my three hundredth blip today, mostly from Porty beach, I am reminded on a daily basis about the rapid passage of time, the endless ebb and flow of the tides here and the briefness of all our time on this planet when compared with the length of time our planet has been in existence. Future guardians of our planetary heritage are skipping, scooting, cycling and running along to school this morning along the promenade. They all exude that "only three days of the school year to go" feeling as they crank up for the summer holidays ahead. It seems like yesterday that they were all promenading this way towards the new school year back in mid August 2012. Where does the time go ?
