Breakfast time for the Mooos
These cows are some of our rising 2 year heifers, due to start calving from August onwards. As this is the first time they will have calved, we keep them separate from our main herd so we can keep a closer eye on them. That way if they have trouble calving, or reject their calf once it is born (which they sometimes do), they are easier to deal with in a smaller mob.
We were just about to feed out their hay to them when I took this photo. I love how the low cloud was hanging around the mountains, and higher up how the cloud looks dirty and moody. It's still overcast. I think it's going to stay like this all day.
