Lit Up
It's been a big day in various ways. I was asked to join the school council recently (Nate's school), today was my first meeting (8am!!!). There's a couple of parents, a few teachers and a couple of politicians. It was extremely interesting to hear about the school we know and love so well from the inside out, as it were. Interesting to hear the challenges being in a poor area with a low attendance rate etc... Interesting to hear they feel the government have given them money to make the school 'look' better but not actually money to really improve it. I feel privileged to be on this board... I also felt brain scrambled listening and speaking in Spanish but everything written being in Catalan. Thank goodness for DuoLingo helping me learn Catalan!!
Home via the supermarket to shop for community tea...off to the ES coffee to see folks, hand over post, enjoy a drink with them. I always love seeing that group - most of whom were represented in Saturday's blip of Sarah's birthday.
Home to catch up with Danny who's been helping one of our friends on the street work out if he's going to prison or not...poor guy. He doesn't have much Spanish so Danny's language skills are needed, and his listening ear.
Danny and Asha went off to the library cafe to work, Nate and I made dinner and did some last minute shopping for it. He also helped me find a blip as up until this point I'd only got admin documents photographed today, ha!
Lovely to have the guys for tea, including Blips very own CJBrucie! And then straight from that into my first session of the Contemporary Chaplaincy course. So so fascinating meeting the group, hearing the contexts everyone's living and working in - such variety! They seem like a good bunch.
And now, bed.
Today I'm grateful for;
1) The privilege of being on the school council...and feeling so proud of 'our' school. So glad we felt led to it all those years ago when Asha was 4 years old.
2) Getting session one of the course done - I've been nervous. Seems everyone on the zoom has imposter syndrome though!
3) The light through this leaf as Nate and I walked to the supermarket...beautiful.
