Stealing the revolution
The Turkish activists were pretty "red" right from the beginning waving a lot of Turkish flags. Initially there were plain national banners: rad background with white star and crescent. Now, the inventive Turks started to sell flags with Ataturk (the father of liberal Turkey) added to the national symbols on red background. And they are plenty, hanging on many windows all over the country.
I was surprised when I saw police cars decorated with the national flags. It must be a government's attempt to steel this symbol from the protest movement. Pretty clever PR.
