Diary of an Edinburgher

DAY EIGHT (Brisbane)

Packed up this morning, left the suitcases in the hotel, and went off for breakfast in the cafe. We had the morning to go for a wander round town - I wanted to see the old church we remembered from out fleeting visit years ago.

It was raining again (floods down where Sue lives) but in the CBD it's mostly under cover. But I did get an umbrella! A lovely colourful one and a great souvenir. Useful, too.

The MoB (Museum of Brisbane) was MOBBED with schoolkids, but in a good way. Lots of things on for them - free shows, making badges, building neverending structures with clip on shapes. A gallery, an English tea room (still with Santa and a decorated Christmas tree...). A marvellous shop with lovely arty things, including my irresistable (and indispensable) umbrella.

We then said goodbye to Sue, who enjoyed her wee visit to the city and took the train home. An Uber to the airport - so easy. We're now at the gate, waiting in very comfy lounge.

We're ending the day in Sydney, in Gill's house. She's at a meeting till 9pm, but left us a fish pie to heat up! The adventure continues...

Photos, clockwise from top left:
They're very keen on their scooters here, but I really fancied the ones with a wee seat!
Met two kangaroos in George Square...
The wonderful Museum of Brisbane building. And my brand new umbrella.
The old church surrounded by modern buildings.
