Frosty Sand
Gone is the rain and gloom and in is the sun and frost.
In recognition of a certain lightning of spirit after days of darkness, I went to the beach dressed for immersion. I have to say the travelling there is much more daunting to me than baring almost all and wading through the surf to swim in the calmer water.
Plenty women and only one man that I could see had the same idea and so it was quite a social gathering. The tide was full, the breakers gentle and the sand crunchy with frost.
There was one ‘newbie’ there who went in without gloves or socks - I feel pretty sure she won’t do that again, but you live and learn from your fellow dippers!
To warm up after getting home I rewarded myself with a late coffee and Söderberg bun thanks to one of the Christmas vouchers from Yorkshire daughter. Never has a bun tasted so good and so deserved.
