Marginalia
I love finding marginalia in old books. This particular volume of Principia Ethica by George Edward Moore published by Cambridge University Press in 1903 is full of it. This particular volume was owned by Charles Sydney Buxton, a student at Balliol College, Oxford. According to the handwritten note inside he obtained it in November 1909 when studying for his MA. Unfortunately Charles was to die just two years later, aged 27. I haven't been able to find out anything more about him, other than that his father was a prominent Liberal politician who served as Postmaster General and President of the Board of Trade under Asquith. He was later appointed Governor-General of South Africa. (Clearly its been another wet day!).
