The Golden Bird

Its been a "grim" day here - more torrential rain. Sorting through some old books I thought this would be appropriate as its from Grimms' Fairy Tales. I remember that, as a child, I was fascinated (and sometimes a little scared) of these wonderful illustrations by Charles Folkard. Now they remind me of stained glass designs by Harry Clarke. I like the way the drawings break through the frame, something I've done quite often in my printing practice.
