Callow Hill
Another longish walk today, nine miles across frozen fields and frosted meadows. We followed the Onny Trail up to Longville Common and then worked our way across country to Wart Hill. On our descent towards Cheney Longville we had a good view of the 24 metre high Flounders' Folly, the tower at the top of Callow Hill which marks, more or less, the western end of Wenlock Edge. The Folly was built in 1838 by Benjamin Flounders and was, for a while, owned by Julie Christie. I plan to visit on one of its open days this year. It is just visible in my photo. We only saw one person on our route today and he was working in the grounds of a house that we had considered buying last year so we stopped for a chat.
