John O'Groats
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Our plan had been to take in John O'Groats on our way to Ullapool, tomorrow, but the weather today was so good and the forecast for tomorrow so grim, that we elected to visit, this morning.
On the way we took in the Duncansby Head Stacks, although it was hard to get a good picture as the sun was so low in the sky. (See my effort regardless in today's Extra.)
The Minx and I have talked about coming to John O'Groats for a long time and even though the town very much had the feel of a tourist town that is closed for the season, I still enjoyed being there. There was a not unpleasant sense of being overwhelmed by nature.
Having enjoyed the UK's northernmost town, we then drove west to the northernmost point at Dunnet Head, before heading back to the cottage for baked potatoes and a relaxing afternoon.
