Castle Sinclair Girnigoe
The last day of 2023.
We decided that we'd make use of the dry weather (and limited daylight hours) to go and visit what's left of Castle Sinclair Girnigoe.
I love a good information board, and there were several to read there, one being a guess, in the form of cutaway drawing, at what the castle and its rooms would have looked like and been used for in its pomp*.
At other times of the year, I think you can walk around the innards of the castle but we contented ourselves with a good look around the landward side of the exterior.
We'd also hoped to go the Old Pulteney Distillery shop, but when we swung by yesterday they were closed and won't re-open until we've gone. However, today we found a little shop called Bin Ends, whence I bought a bottle of the 12 year old.
They also had a Macallan 1950, for £51,300!
*The drawing actually reminded me of Richard Scarry, and I was a little heartbroken that the Minx (nine years younger than me) had never heard of him. Imagine growing up without Lowly the Worm.
