Sunshine for Hogmanay 2023

We had sunshine today. How cheerful the world suddenly looks after the gloom of the past few rainy days.
I had a lingering morning coffee with two friends I see only occasionally.
Later there was a trip to Morningside to hand in a birthday card to my daughter- in- law, Luca who has a birthday on the 2nd of January. She shares the first of the 2024 family birthdays with my Yorkshire daughter.

I walked back home through the streets of Morningside and Bruntsfield busy with home grown natives- no obvious tourists with cases stravaiging over pavements and roads. Most people seemed to going one way, maybe to the Hermitage of Braid, glad to be out in sunshine for a change.

It’s to be an early start for me tomorrow morning as daughter#1 is collecting me at 7:45am for the first dip of 2024 at Porty. Start the way you mean to continue is the saying going round in my head.
