Findlay Market and murals
Saturday
Another dull day today with cooler temperatures. Late morning we drove downtown to the Over the Rhine area to Findlay Market, Ohio’s oldest continuously operating public market. It is much more lively Spring through Fall, when there would be more outdoor stalls, more fruit, vegetables and flowers and sometimes some street performers. First we went for brunch/lunch at a French bistro, which had a nice French feel to it, with French posters on the wall etc. Then we went for a walk through the market, and the area immediately around, where there were numerous murals, so I had to include some of those in my collage too. The area Over the Rhine was once a working class German neighbourhood, and many inhabitants would walk across bridges over the then Miami and Erie Canal which separated the area from downtown Cincinnati. The canal was nicknamed the “Rhine” after the German River, and thus the newly settled area north of the canal became known as Over the Rhine.
This evening Laura was feeling a little more lively, and we played a couple of games of Upwords after dinner.
