Cutting the block
After feeding out this morning, we ended up at the cowshed to see what was happening today. One of the builders was sawing through some blocks to fit a small space. I liked the concrete dust that was flying of the saw. The concrete that was poured yesterday in the rain can be seen in this photo. The poles sticking out of the concrete are for gates. The roof is going to be erected next week, following which the concrete for the milking platform will be poured. It is coming together very nicely, and will be well finished and operational by the time the cows start calving at the beginning of August.
It was a very dreary cold day, with snow settling on the hills around the farm late this afternoon. It's 4 degrees C outside. Hopefully we won't have snow on the ground in the morning, like the people in the mid to lower South Island.
