Home Away From Home

This is the playing venue in Acapulco for the volleyball tournament we are attending. Two courts, side by side, one for men's games and one for women's, which were in constant use. We arrived at 8:00 AM for our first Golden Division game at 9:00. Of course, there were no players, no referees, nor were the nets even set up. So unlike what we were used to with US tournaments where teams would be warming up an hour ahead of time. Once things got started at a little past 9:00, however, there was no break in the action. The Golden team played at 9:00 (and won), then the Master team (who lost), then the Men's team (on which I was asked to fill in). Then more Golden, Master and Men. The last Golden match (which they also won) started at 11:15 PM and we finally left the courts, where there was still a men's match in progress, at ten past 12. Truly our home for the day.
