Swings and Roundabouts
I managed to get in and out of Princes Street without too much trouble this morning, but it was early and the tourists had not yet got into gear. I arrived home with the rain and was considering hunkering down for the rest of the day when daughter #1 phoned to ask me to come and meet with friends from Cullen who were down in Edinburgh for 2 nights. There were a few minutes when I looked at the rain stotting off the patio and considered not bothering, but decided I would only get wet on the journey and the advantage of having a convivial afternoon was worth some dampness. And it was a convivial afternoon even if the lovely view of Arthur’s Seat from my daughter’s window was not as beautiful as it might have been with the mist down on the crags.
Going home I thought I was being clever by walking through Holyrood Park to the Parliament building and catching a bus at the foot of the Royal Mile but it was like walking through a bog, so not so clever. With the bus wait being about 10mins I just kept walking, forcing a path against a tide of humanity surging down towards Holyrood with umbrellas a particular hazard.
Home and drying off with Strictly to look forward to.
