Thomas is now 11

Here are James and Thomas with his cake. Usually I’d be making one for him. We had hoped to see them today after Ella and Nathaniel’s show but that wasn’t going to happen after yesterday’s scenario. We are still confined to the house.

I mentioned Mr C had taken to bed yesterday as he was shivery. When I went to check on him I found his temperature was 102.5. I gave him paracetamol and he stuck his head under the cold tap. Meanwhile I phoned the surgery again as the GP said to ring if there was any change in our conditions. She rang back and spoke to him. The advice was if his temperature didn’t come down we were to dial 999 and get to hospital. Scary stuff. But luckily his temperature went down and we settled down to watch The Newsroom on catch-up.

We were as usual up in the night with the the usual problem and it continues today. One of the women in the group has had test results back and she has Shigella, a type of dysentery, for which she has started antibiotics. As our symptoms are similar I’m anticipating our results will be the same. If they are negative for everything, after 12 days, I don’t know what we are supposed to do.

So far we have missed a funeral, two lunch parties and a pooled supper. I don’t like saying I’m bored but I don’t have the concentration to knit or read much. I can’t even drag myself up to our library to hunt out an Agatha, my comfort reading when poorly!
