A crisp walk on the moor

Despite another night of barely 4 hours sleep I had a good brisk walk. It was such a beautiful crisp sunny morning. I went via Debdon and Primrose cottage out to the moor. It took me a while as the tracks were very icy. It was so good to be out, but I will have to go some to do my 1000 miles this year. (My target was virtually from Lands End to John O’Groats which was done last month).

We noticed this morning that there was damage to the wood panelling where plaster dirt had got on it and when they’d tried to wipe it, it has removed the varnish. The people who took down the ceilings had been so careful. The put up 2 layers of covering on the panelling whereas the plasterers didn’t cover it. (We’d had to leave them to it as they were late getting here and we had the malaria pharmacist appointment.)

I have wasted hours of my life watching The Crown but once I started I got sucked in. Each series is worse than the last, apart from the acting. Imelda Staunton is excellent as the Queen.

It’s less than 2 weeks till the shortest day. Hurrah. I have got lots of plans to get through the dark months enjoyably. Trips away in January and March will sandwich treats in February - a visit to friends in Suffolk, taking Chris to Scottish ballet for her birthday, a spa day with the daughters and a visit here from London friends, provided she doesn’t need treatment for whatever it is on her ovaries. We won’t know the biopsy outcome till next week.
