I adore all of our woodpeckers but admit a special love for the Hairy Woodpecker. Here’s Handsome Harry with his red crown and a morsel of leftover suet on his beak • On this final day of November MrsP and I took a drive to a favorite Christmas Tree vendor from Richmond, Maine, to pick a tree, wreath and kissing ball for our front patio area. The tree is decorated with solar lights and we’re anxious to see how it looks tonight! • We’ve nicknamed her “Fat Baby” because of her round appearance. She stands about five feet tall and MrsP spotted her almost immediately while I wandered about gazing at taller more manicured specimens, but I eventually agreed that Fat Baby really was too cute to pass up :) • The aurora borealis might be visible in parts of Maine overnight between 1am-5am • A special countdown is planned for December. You may remember I counted down the top 25 holiday songs last year; this time it’s holiday movies :)
