Sally Mair - Loving life

By Sallymair

Finally

Almost a year since my first appointment, my implants were fitted today. They feel good to my relief. I had been very concerned that my mouth would feel too 'full'. I had a very bad bout of that a number of years ago when a crown was fitted and I wanted to tear it out for almost a fortnight before things settled down (I know I'm a drama queen!). The dentist was a bit taken aback this morning that I wasn't more excited about this appointment. Most people are apparently but I was very wary. I have one more visit, next week, to check things are ok, but they seem very happy with things to date.
What I hadn't realised was that I was single-handedly going to be keeping tepe (I'm not sure other dental brushes are available but feel free to check!) in business for the rest of my life. This pretty little diagram, hand annotated by the dentist, shows the different colours of tepe brushes I should use for each gap! Does anyone else think it's the wrong way around? It may be anatomically correct but I would like the left side of the diagram to relate to the left side of my mouth, and vice versa.
This same dentist thinks I grind my teeth when asleep - I wholeheartedly deny that but he is adamant, so I also have a very fancy silicone mouthguard to wear overnight. It fits very snuggly and looks rather like the big bad wolf's mob cap. Life is full of glamour in the Mair household these days.
In other news the carpets are cleaned, well, most of them at any rate. The stair cleaning attachment stopped working so they are coming back next week to do the stairs and upstairs landing, but at least we can start putting furniture back tomorrow. The carpets look great though.
The team were most impressed that we had cleared the rooms, apparently most people don't bother because the furniture is never moved anyway so they just clean around it ... My jaw dropped!
